New Wheels

Charlie's new Dodge Stratus
I got a new car this week. With the mileage on my Durango slowly creeping over the limit of the lease, the phone call from the dealership saying I was eligible to roll over into a new lease was welcome. But I told the leasing agent that I had to save money this time. He obliged by getting me into a Stratus. It's spiffy -- it feels like a sports car to me, after 12 years with trucks and the like, but it has a four-cylinder engine, and the fuel economy is rated at 30 miles per gallon (highway, which is at least 10 mpg more than the Durango). The only issue I have so far is that I have to be careful getting in and out so I don't bump my head on the door frame, but once I'm inside it's very comfortable. The true test will be the first road trip (lasting more than one hour) I take in it, of course.

I didn't want to get into a new lease, because leasing is a trap that's really hard to escape. But I don't have the cash on hand to simultaneously end a lease and buy a car, and this car might help by being cheaper, so that I can save some money and be more prepared when this new lease expires. That's my hope at least. Until then, I'm gonna enjoy zipping around in my sleek little car.

You need to write a song about driving fast now!

Oh, I NEVER drive fast. /* wink wink nudge nudge */ Wouldn't know how that feels.

That means, for the same amount of gas money, you can drive to to see Wolf 50% more often!

The Stratus comes with 50% more Wolf? I didn't see that in the lease papers.... that's almost as good as getting the 6-disc CD changer as an extra. :-)

Spiffy wheels, dude! But it does look like a good excuse to practice with the limbo bar for getting in and out of it! (You might also consider some sort of a "hat catcher" on the upper edge... you never know..)

Everybody Limbo! Now I'm gonna have cheesy Caribbean music going through my head for a while. As for the hat thing, well all I can say is, it's a good thing I'm not bald and why do they put those buttons on the top of baseball caps anyway? Because that either gets caught on the door frame or gets rammed into my skull (ouch ow ow owie).

I'm still trying to recover from the impression left on my own head after a close encounter with the Focus hatch last weekend. And that was without a hat!

Thanks :) I'm just so glad that I could get into a smaller car -- literally more than figuratively... saving money is a good thing.

Sorry to hear about your Trans Am attacking your head. Ow!
