Bye Bye Bros

I hadn't quit Yahoo's group BrosOnline yet. I had put it on "special notices only" and checked into the website from time to time. Today I got fed up with what I was seeing and just quit.

I guess the last straw was when one member, who seems to have become everyone's scapegoat (but is kind of a loudmouth himself), asked a simple question and got exceptionally snarky responses back from one of the moderators and from someone I was involved with once. Between that and the nonsense messages surrounding those -- one asking if longhairs were peaceful enough to not "kick someone's teeth in once a year or so" (what? this is common practice in the world?) -- I just had enough.

The path of Bros is so far removed from my own these days. It's just clutter in my life, so it's gone. It's not that I don't like longhaired bearded guys anymore. And I haven't gone and cut my hair. But long hair and a beard aren't enough to make someone or a group of people worth knowing if that's all there is in common with me and my interests.

I've been in the online group since the month it started, and was a subscriber to the magazine before that. That's a decade of involvement all told. It was good at times, but now I'm over it. I hope they have happy times doing what they want to do in that group. I'm pursuing other options.

Sorry that it turned into a bummer.

There are groovier things to spend your time on, I am sure.

There just might be. I've been told I have a CD coming out, guess I could finish that up.... (Actually I have almost all the art done and it should go to the manufacturer this coming week.)

Welcome to the league of ex-Bros!

Will I be getting a membership card in the mail soon?

Or maybe that's a dis-membership card....

Actually I didn't know they had an online mailing list. I dropped the magazine six or seven years ago. Other than an occasional handsome face, it was just too one-dimensional.

And yes, I still have a beard and over the shoulder hair, with no plans to change. ;)

Re: Metoo...
There was a gap of a few years between the last print magazine and the online group. I think the group started in late 2001. The magazine was kind of blah after a while. I always wished for more well-written stories. There were at least two that I remembered from older issues of Bear Magazine that would've fit nicely (and their authors were members too).

I didn't know you were a Bros subscriber. Now I have all my back issues out and I'm looking for your picture. :)

Re: Metoo...
LOL. Save yourself the trouble. I never sent them a picture. I did run a single ad, once. It was so out of character it only garnered a single response, and the response was a complete non-sequiture. That is to say, because the writer apparently didn't understand the ad, he simply addressed irrelevancies hoping to find something in common.

Photos, photos. Here's an old one but you can't see the ponytail. That's about 15 years ago. Here's another from maybe 9 years ago. And here's one about five years old or thereabouts. I'm good at dodging the camera, so photos of me are scarce. Actually, I tend to be the one behind the camera much of the time. ;)
