Finally this evening, the mayor got specific, alleging on the local all-news radio station that an excavation firm dumped between 100,000 and 200,000 yards of possibly contaminated soil and other material at Freedom Hill county park in Sterling Heights, which is north of Warren. He doesn't say when this dumping occurred. He does say there are some monitoring wells now indicating higher levels of contaminants. He also does not say how he knows this, nor does he say why he's going about this issue in this way.
The county executive and other officials say the mayor's statements are untrue and unfounded. They claim to have been trying to get in touch with him all day, but he's not returning the executive's phone calls.
Every once in a while, Hizzoner is given to flights of political fancy. Who knows what he's really up to.

Funny thing about that. He was term-limited until this August, when Warren voters in their infinite* wisdom approved changing the term limits from three terms to five -- but ONLY for the mayor's office. And it includes the incumbent. How convenient, eh?
