So yesterday I was driving around (day off work) getting glasses, getting bread for dinner tonight, etc., and I was listening to CBC Radio 2 where their midday host had a two-hour tribute to Leonard Cohen. The first hour and a half were (mostly) his songs done by him, along with some interview clips, and the last half hour was a small selection of his songs done by other artists. The first one was a the Canadian band The Once singing an a capella version of "Coming Home to You" with fantastic harmonies. And then he started one I instantly recognized and I fell completely apart.

Back in the 1990s, Jim Perkins played "Song of Bernadette" at the Four Green Fields open mic. I learned it pretty quickly. I haven't sung it in a while. To be honest, it may be a long time before I can sing it again without bawling.

Oh: Here's some info about the song: http://mentalfloss.com/article/49523/music-history-22-song-bernadette
