Over the years, I've wanted to write fiction in my LJ, but I have only rarely done it. Almost all of the times I did that were in connection to a commemoration of the birthday of Lewis Carroll, the 19th-century author of fantastic and children's literature. He was born on this date in 1832. The idea of "Rabbit Hole Day on LJ" pretty much started here in 2005, and got a little bit of notoriety. It tried to spread to other social media, but then it kind of dried up.

A few days ago, I told myself to try to come up with an idea for this year. But then I didn't. All I have is a list of what I did in previous years:

Every once in a while, I go back and read them for fun. I dunno, it's one of those things that made LJ special.

What would make LJ special for you now?

My first-thoughts answer to that is that if my old LJ buddies would come back and write again, that would make LJ special again. The exodus left this place to be almost a ghost town. I mean no disrespect to anyone who's still writing, it's just that the three or four of you who regularly add to my friends feed can only do so much, where before my friend's feed would run three or four pages a day.

The problem isn't what's written by people who are still here, it's that all the people who left didn't want to write anymore. Some did go to other sites, but most just went to Facebook or Twitter, which changed what they were sharing and reduced it considerably. People should, of course, do what works for them, and if blogging doesn't work, so be it. I just wasn't tired of reading and keeping up with them yet.

I want to use LJ again I just feel a little to vulnerable. I try to be careful about what I post on Facebook. I miss the days of my "anonymous" blogging on Diaryland!

Ah the good ol' days. I always liked reading your blogs, but I can understand that you'd want to be careful with what you write. (Just to reassure you, I don't know the details of why.)

You could make your LJ to be friends only. It's just that there are so few people left from five to ten years ago, and sometimes drive-by traffic is all one gets.
