Thanksgiving 2013

I woke up to a light coating of snow outside, not enough to cover the grass but enough to cover the driveway and the car. It looked nice, though it didn't look Thanksgiving-like. Our annual feast was hosted by my sister at her house in Holly, forty miles away. I brought pies and our mom. Also there was my sister's son's family. The weather was no worse there than here, fortunately. The dinner was good: Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and corn ... and oops, we forgot the cranberry sauce. D'oh! We didn't realize the cranberries were AWOL till after dessert. Conversation was constant but benign, the football game turned out right, and the kids were rambunctious. Mom and I were glad for some quiet once we were in the car again, but we were glad to have been there.

I'm off work till Monday, and the only commitment I have till then is waiting for someone to come clean and tune up my furnace on Friday. All this free time is unusual for me. I'm afraid I won't know how to act.
