Wanna buy a ruined auto factory?

You know about the Packard Plant, right? The huge factory that is Detroit's unlikeliest tourist attraction in all its abandoned, despoiled glory? It was put up for auction a couple of weeks ago in hopes that someone would redevelop the site. The winning bidder, who is from Texas, offered six million dollars. But that bid fell through when the deadline for the first payment of $100,000 passed. So the right to purchase was transferred to bidder number 2 (from Chicago, according to Wikipedia), who offered two million dollars. That outfit made the first payment, only to miss the second payment deadline. So now we're down to bidder #3, a Peruvian developer who offered a measly $700,000. That would be better than nothing, though. The deadline for this bidder's first payment was yesterday, and I don't yet know whether the money came through.

Poor Detroit. Sometimes, if it didn't have bad luck, it would have no luck at all.

The Woodard Dream Cruise usually has one, maybe two Packard Caribbeans (mid to late 50s, I think). I like those a lot.
