Unexpectedly powerful; also, ducks.

The November 2013 issue of the magazine Mental Floss's big article was "The 25 Most Powerful Websites." Two surprises: No, Google is not #1; it's not even on the list. And, the 7th most powerful website is ... LiveJournal. That's mostly because of its role in Russian public discourse. But hey, we think it's important, too, right?

Also, just because: 50 Ducks Invaded A CVS In New York, Were Extremely Well Behaved. Mallards, to be precise.

I guess Google is classed as a search engine, rather than a website?

I don't know... maybe it's that Google has so many sites (like YouTube, Google+, Blogger) that maybe they transcend the category. Or maybe they think Google ultimately isn't all that innovative. I'm just guessing.

That's actually a pretty interesting list ... though I take no solace in the fact that many of the sites on it are long-gone and nearly forgotten. :)

Yes, there were a few moments of "Ah, I remember THAT...." It was pretty cool that they dug deeper than just the obvious ideas that come to mind today.

They left out Geocities. ;-)
