Etiquette question

Twenty years since I got my first Internet account (ok, Prodigy, but it was all I had then), and I still don't know:

A friend or acquaintance sends you an e-mail forward - a collection of jokes, pithy sayings, cute photos, whatever. It has obviously come from chain of others. What's the proper response?

A quick note saying "Ha ha that's a good one!" (or equivalent)
0(0.0%)
Forward a similar collection you have gotten from someone else.
0(0.0%)
A personal note that might encourage an indepth conversation.
2(33.3%)
Nothing. Just quietly wonder why you never get anything more personal.
3(50.0%)
Other (explain in a comment)
1(16.7%)

Return it to them several times in the next few days with the explanation that it was just so funny you're sending it to everyone on your mailing list ... repeatedly.

I do like this. Does one send the list with all sweetness and light, or does one swear a lot in an introductory paragraph?

I think the only de rigeur part is "...sorry if you got this already, but it's just SO FUNNY I know you'll enjoy it anyway."

Earl writes me a REAL e mail several times a day.

He also sends chain "Joke & pic" e mails.

They're quite good, actually!

I enjoy them.

We share the same bitchy sense of humor, LOL!

I checked "OTHER" in the poll because I think ANY of the first three choices
are acceptable.
