No pasties today

As of 12:30 p.m., the Mackinac Bridge Authority has closed the Mackinac Bridge "until further notice" due to high winds. Meanwhile, out in the middle of Lake Superior, waves are 30 feet, with winds at a sustained 43-47 knots and gusts up to 55 knots. Don't ask me to convert knots to miles or kilometers per hour, but sufficient to say that it's tropical storm force. According to the National Weather Service, 25-foot waves are hitting the shore from Marquette to points north. The noon wind chill at the Marquette County airport was −31°F (−35°C).

Dave says, "You wish you were there, don't you?"

Here, the wind chill is a mere −17°F, (−27°C) but the wind is finding every weak spot in the house's insulation and then some. I might have to put socks on soon.

As in "Yugo over the bridge?"

(Actually that's not funny, because a Yugo actually did go over the railing once, in the 1980s, in a relatively high wind. Well, ok, it's a little funny. I mean, Yugos....)
