Woodward Dream Cruise, part two

In years past, Dave and I went to Ferndale to see the Woodward Dream Cruise. Though that's been enjoyable, I've suspected that the show was a little light there because it's toward the southern end of the route, and most of the big events are toward the middle in Berkley, Royal Oak, and Birmingham. This year, we branched out, going to Berkley on Friday night (see earlier post) and Royal Oak on Saturday. Woodward and 13 Mile Road seem to be the epicenter of the event. The crowds were huge, especially at the intersection and along the sidewalks -- I'm amazed I managed to deal with it as well as I did. We didn't get as many photos on Saturday, mostly because we got a lot of really good ones the day before. There was still a complete lack of Packards, which was disappointing.

It's for sale. It's only $10,000, which is less than half the price of my current car. But I suppose it's harder to get parts, too. (8/18/2007)
Rambler along Woodward Rambler along Woodward
Parked along northbound Woodward north of 13 Mile was this nice little Rambler. The background shows how crazy the scene was all day long. (8/18/07)

Wait... don't tell me... it's a ... Mustang? This one was at the Dodge exhibit in the Northwood Shopping Center lot at 13 Mile and Woodward. (8/18/07)

From the Berkley Cruisfest (8/17/07). I liked the way the horse in front's right rear foot is positioned. Seems kind of whimsical for a police horse.

Cool cars, both this post and the earlier one!

Also, I'm thinking of animist's comment to the earlier post, about how "They don't make 'em like they used to... which is both a good thing, and a bad thing." I agree; those old cars look cool, but I'm glad I don't have to smell their pre-EPA exhaust in traffic every day. :-)

Well, there is that. I wish that cars looked more like they used to, but don't really want the old technology instead of the new, even though I'm fond of saying that the peak of automobile-dom was the 1972 Dodge Dart.

I'm idly wondering if it's possible to put a 2007 drivetrain in a 1957 car, somehow. The combination of tail fins and clean air would be a winner.

Yay for plushie mustangs.

If the police horse in the bottom photo was just standing that way and not moving, he's "taking a load off." It's a resting gesture that allows the tendons in that lower leg to relax. We two-fers have to sit down and put our feet up. Quad types have four legs and can rest them one at a time. ;p

That explains the occasional millipede I've seen standing around with 400 legs in the air and the other ones on the ground. :)
