Charlie Geeks Out, this time over stamps

I had to go to the post office today, and instead of using the machine that dispenses boring old American flag stamps, I went to the counter and saw a HUGE array of choices. The variety of stamps sold by the U.S. post office these days is just amazing.

There were too many I liked -- I only needed the equivalent of a booklet (and that's all my budget allowed too). My runners-up were:

The winner was:

Eventually I might have to start buying sheets to save. Like I need yet ANOTHER collection.

As a long time stamp collector, here's my advice. Forget saving the sticky labels the USPS is pushing these days. The glue on them creeps and runs, and they don't survive long term storage very well at all. Laugh at them and use them up. If you want to collect stamps, stick with the old lick and stick kind. ;p

Do they issue all stamps in both formats, "sticky" and "licky"? I never paid attention, since lately I've just been getting stamps to use not collect.

Alas, no. They've been phasing out the licky ones and may have done away with them by now as far as I can say. Supposedly "it's what people want."

I'd bet they'll do it. I seem to remember a Leadbelly stamp, if I'm not mistaken.

Where the Wild Things Are is WIN for EVER. *looks round sheepishly and scampers off to make jokes at expense of Aquaman*

I was really tempted by the kids' book pictures just because of Where the Wild Things Are. Makes me wish I had an icon of either Max or one of the (other) wild things. That was my favorite picture book.

I mean, no offence to Maisie Mouse, but she's not quite in Sendak's league.
