Vacation's end

Saturday: Drove back from Clarksville to Warren in a rented 14-foot truck about 1/3 full with the bedroom and dining room furniture Wolf gave me. The truck was big enough that I was supposed to observe the truck speed limits, 55 mph instead of 65 or 70. The trip still took only 8 hours, only an hour or so longer than usual. Once I figured out where the right side of the truck was, I was fine. The weather was great, and the roads were clear until I got to Detroit where I-75 was closed for construction (of course) and I had to detour around it. When I pulled into the driveway I was so tired that, after I called Mom and Wolf to say I made it home in one piece, all I could do was watch Fullmetal Alchemist and then doze off on the couch.

Sunday: Got the truck unloaded with help from my sister and nephew. Eventually I put stuff in the dresser drawers, as I decided I'd rather sleep in the bed than on the couch. In between I watched a Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom show on red pandas on Animal Planet. D'aww, they're so cute.

Monday: Spent most of the day with my Mom visiting apartment complexes, since she's moving this month. We had a good time.

Tuesday: Back to work. Sigh. Time to plan another vacation.

I have a kitchen table, a few somewhat broken but fixable chairs, and a shabby but serviceable dresser, if anyone wants free furniture. All you have to do is come to Warren to get it.

I wonder if we could plant bamboo in the northwestern U.S. and start a red panda colony there. It rains a lot in the states of Washington and Oregon and there probably aren't a lot of natural predators (like cloud leopards).

(speaking of the Himalayas, kind of, here's my yeti icon :-)

Cloud-- damn, you trying to tip my squee-o-meter into meltdown?

Er, I mean, neofelis nebulosa's another one of my all-time fave non-dogs. :)

As for the colony, go for it! I'd do the same in sunny Manchester, if I had any gift for keeping plants alive. :D

(sings) "Take The Last Truck From Clarksville, and I'll meet you with the sofa...."

And somewhere, four guys named Davey, Peter, Mickey and Mike are all suddenly feeling confused...

Welcome back! You were missed at Bliss, but we forgive you. :-)

The Monkees did confused pretty often on the TV show, as I recall.

I missed everyone at Bliss, too. I've heard from Leslie that Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams shouldn't be missed (though I will miss them again at The Ark tonight... something about working late and rain moving in). How was the jamming in the camping areas?
