White House gives strong signal on Bolton appointment. The strong signal indicates that President Bush will appoint John Bolton as our U.N. representative when Congress goes on summer break in August, which will allow Bolton to serve until the next Congress is seated in January 2007.

[White House Press Secretary Scott] McClellan spoke a day after the State Department reversed itself and acknowledged that Bolton had given Congress inaccurate information when he written that he had not been questioned or provided information to jury or government investigations in the past five years.

If you lie to the Congress, the Senate should not approve you for a job, especially not a very prominent diplomatic job. Why is there even any question about this? I don't see how Bolton hasn't withdrawn his name from consideration yet. That's a pretty high level of denial going on there.

I swear, it's like someone in Washington keeps telling the U.N. "We brought you INTO this world, and we'll take you OUT of it."
