The LJ Year In Review

tree

There is a LiveJournal "Year in Review" tradition of posting the first sentence (or so) of your first entry for the month. By "tradition," I mean that some people have done it over the years, though I haven't seen a lot of them do so yet this year. Some people put in the months with each quote, but I didn't; they're in chronological order, anyway. Here's mine:

Happy New Year! I have noticed in the journals that I read that a popular topic now is listing New Year's Resolutions.

It's another episode of At The Symphony with Dave and Charlie!

I'm home waiting for the cable guy (very tall, ropy build) because last week my Internet connection was having issues that it no longer seems to be having.

You mean, after almost eight years, no one has found the hidden track on There's Gotta Be a Road ?

Over the weekend, over 60 percent of the spam in my work e-mail inbox had subjects related to swine flu, instead of the usual solicitations to enhance certain body parts used to satisfy certain significant other persons.

It started yesterday.

I woke up at 4:11 a.m. to a distant BEEEP.

Highlights from the last month of Arts Journal postings:

On Sunday I was behind a pickup truck that had one of those "Buy American" bumper stickers—I think this one said "Still not out of work? Keep buying foreign!" or something like that.

I've been completely obsessed with the new Ken Burns documentary The National Parks: America's Best Idea, which has been running on PBS nightly since Sunday.

When last we checked, Mom and I were in metro Louisville visiting cousins.

Will we ever stop importing critters from other continents?
